Readiness. Three, two, one, …go.
Did you jump?
Were you ready?
The US military as part of their readiness program to enter the military you go through MEPS, which stands for Military Entrance Processing Stations.
MEPS primary mission is readiness. They make sure you are primarily physically fit and able to enter into the military including all their standards before starting your first day. Screenings, tests, and more await you and personally speaking it is a very rigorous process.
Paul speaks of putting on the full armor of G-d to be prepared and to fight the evil one. A soldier prepares materially by these items of protection and likewise later on Paul states to prepare via prayer and petition and the Word of G-d.
He’s serious. We fight against not only the physical world but spiritual.
Are you ready?
Are you preparing?
One of the ways we can take those same letter of MEPS for the military is:
M = mentally
E = emotionally
P = physically
S = spiritually
The next time you pray whether for yourself or others think of those letters as a guide. When a spouse is faced with a tough job situation – pray for strength through these four. When a loved one is facing sickness and hardship pray for him/her to have faith through these four. Or when you realize that you could be nicer and with more patience pray for help in these four areas.
Remember prayer.
Remember readiness. We are entering a battle.
Or we are in the battle right now. Mostly I would say it is now.
Our victory is secured not by what we do yet through Him we are going in the right direction with the right purpose. Stay His course.
And remember who we are really serving – our true Master who knows all and is supreme.
2 Timothy 2:4 (NASB95)
No soldier in active service entangles himself in the affairs of everyday life, so that he may please the one who enlisted him as a soldier.
