A thought exercise….
Did our L-rd stop sacrificing when Jesus was risen from his tumultuous cross atonement for sin?
Most right now would stop and say yes.
I don’t think so. Remember that our G-d, or L-rd, is the Holy One. He is perfect. He is just. He is above all things.
Thus He expects and demands perfection. There is no fault in Him and can’t expect less.
That’s the rub for us. We are not just. We are not clean and especially not holy.
And He has the power at any moment to wipe out entire humanity out of existence. He owes us nothing.
His mercy holds Him back I believe from this.
His mercy on His creation, and I believe, He sacrifices a bit more each day doing this. Please keep in mind I am not saying that He, at any point, sacrifices His holiness nor who He is as being the Ultimate.
I think He holds back his righteous anger out of love. How He does this I, or we, might never know yet He does out of His love and through Yeshua paying the ultimate price for us from who He is and Him alone so that we can be with Him.
Now think of that deeply.
At any moment – pow – we could be obliterated and He would be correct in doing so.
But He doesn’t and each moment of life is a sovereign gift of his mercy, grace, and love.
So the question to you is this – do we recognize His sacrifices daily?
Philippians 2:5-11: (ESV)
“Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”
