“Thoughts from the Wilderness…” Devotional 09/27/24

From photo ad to same day abandon and leave the world behind. To consider it all but loss.  Isn’t it ironic or divine intervention?

Let me let you in on a little secret. He blesses yet He also corrects. Ok that was not so much a secret as a reminder of how He (out of love always) intercedes and interjects into our lives.

I had the wonderful opportunity to have one of my photos published as a promotional poster for a local coffee shop. I was excited to see an idea and desire come to life. Wow!

Yet that same day in numerous ways the truth hit me. It is not about me or what I can do or what I can achieve. It is abandon. It is laying it all on the line for Christ including who I am and what I do.

Considering it all as lost.

So let me re-ask that question – is it ironic or divine intervention?

Is the L-rd trying to tell me something more?

Do I need to stop pursuing this hobby in my life?

Do I slow down?

Or do I just wait, hope, trust and give Him the credit all along the way?

For what is the cost of our lives and our time.

I heard it said recently from a friend that the only thing we can’t get back is time. Our time. Once spent it’s gone.

And I know that the Bible says to do all things unto Him which to me means (a) do it well and (b) for His glory.

So what say you? What is the cost to follow Jesus?

It is interesting on the timing of the same day..

Philippians 3:8-11 (NASB95)

More than that, I count all things to be loss [a]in view of the surpassing value of [b]knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, [c]for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them but rubbish so that I may gain Christ, and may be found in Him, not having a righteousness of my own derived from the Law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which comes from God on the basis of faith, 10 that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection and [d]the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death; 11 [e]in order that I may attain to the resurrection from the dead.
