What is your favorite verse of Scripture?
Or what is the first verse you memorized?
Or maybe a life verse that holds so true to you sentimentally?
My earliest memorized is the same verse that helped carry me through some darks spots of dread and fear during the C-19 pandemic.
Psalm 22:19, KJV
“But thou o’L-rd, be not far off, o’Thou my help, hasten to my assistance.
I’m gonna guess I was somewhere in the neighborhood of 6 to 8 years old when I was challenged in Sunday School on this one.
Some forty years later when the pandemic arrived on the scene across the global – it hit home as well. Fortunately so did that verse and I am not sure how many times it helped me cope and hope and carry me through the struggle.
If any of you have watched any Star Wars movie you know the scene where Princess Leia, in hologram form, says to Obi-Wan the famous phrase, “Help me, Obi-Wan Kenobi, you’re my only hope.”
The problem with that statement is that it’s Hollywood and to put our faith in people and of ourselves.
The truth is the only hope we have is through the true (not Jedi but Supreme) Master – G-d.
We need to cling to Him much more and for much better reasons.
Going back to Psalms 22:19, you could say that this is my Princess Leia verse. We have the privilege and blessing to call on G-d to help us.
He is worth our hope.
He is worth our prayers.
He is worth our dependency.
So to whom and how do you call on when you are desperate, hurting, lost or struggling with X?
I would like to hear what you willing to share.
