The heart…
So I was reminded by a special friend tonight, Robert, a good friend of my wife’s upbringing how desperately wicked our heart is at its core.
If the L-rd was to show you the ugliness of your heart – who you are really behind the scenes – what would be your first reaction?
Would you get sick to your stomach?
Would you cry out to G-d to have mercy?
What would you do?
It’s so easy and I am guilty to think that I am ok in my current state.
And that’s where Robert helped me tonight. He has a potential idea floating around in his mind about serving His L-rd in one area along these lines of the heart and I sure hope he gets the opportunity as he has an amazing story and loves Yeshua. He has shared so much of himself and his testimony and what a powerful witness to hear how Yeshua has blessed him in undeserving ways.
Isn’t it amazing that the G-d of the universe wants to include us in His plans. The real truth is that everyone of us, whether we believe in Him or not, are in His plans for nothing escapes His will as He chooses – yet why He chooses to allow us to know any of this or to show us how He might be leading us can truly blow your mind. We are so small and He is so infinitely more.
And then comes the sobering reality of that difference. In Revelation, the angels cry out Holy, Holy, Holy is the L-rd G-d Almighty. We, on the other hand, are the scum at the bottom of a sludge pool.
Yet He is willing to show us our filth and His pureness out of love so that we can understand how we are filthy and how we need Him.
This can be a cure or a curse. Your choice.
What a sweet name our Yeshua is that even while we were still sinners He died for us the Bible says.
Are you ready to see what you truly are like?
Are you sure?
Are you really sure?
I think I am a bit scared. Ok I am terrified or should be. I have done some truly terrible things and pride makes it even worse. My heart needs to be changed and to yearn differently – to Him first.
Jeremiah 17:9-10 (ESV)
9 The heart is deceitful above all things,
and desperately sick;
who can understand it?
10 “I the LORD search the heart
and test the mind,
to give every man according to his ways,
according to the fruit of his deeds.”
